Alzein Pediatrics Welcomes Kaitlyn Frank!

Kaitlyn Frank

Dr. Alzein and everyone at Alzein Pediatrics and Alzein Urgent Care are pleased to welcome Kaitlyn B. Frank, MSN, APN, FNP-BC, CPN, to our practice family. Since her days as a student nurse assistant at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Kaitlyn has known that working in pediatrics is where she was meant to be.

“What attracts me most to pediatrics is the resiliency of children,” says Kaitlyn. “For instance, they come to the hospital and have their appendix removed and the next day is running around with a superhero cape on. It continues to amaze me how quickly children recover and, even in times of illness, they still manage to laugh and play.”

Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University and achieved a Master of Science from Governors State University. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, a Certified Pediatric Nurse, and certified in Basic Life Support. She is on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

Kaitlyn formerly worked at Bedford Park Urgent Care, performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating acute walk-in illnesses and injuries, reading x-rays, administering and reading TB skin tests, giving injections, and placing sutures (stitches).

Here at Alzein Pediatrics, Kaitlyn conducts wellness visits, and evaluates, diagnoses, and treats pediatric illnesses and injuries. She evaluates newborns in the hospitals and then focuses on their care as they grow.

“The most enjoyable part of my practice,” says Kaitlyn,  “is spending time getting to know children and their families and watching them grow and change over time.”

Kaitlyn is a valuable resource for families, as she encourages questions and emphasizes education in her appointments.

“As a mother myself, I try to understand why children and families feel the way they do about things or why they ask the questions that they do, and I do my best to answer their questions and ease their fears to the best of my ability.”
