Dr. Hassan Alzein, along with everyone here at Alzein Pediatrics, warmly welcomes Candace Duran, RN, back to the practice.
“Patient families will recognize Candace as she returns to us after earning her Nursing degree at Rasmussen University,” said Dr. Alzein. “Candace has knowledge and experience across a wide spectrum of healthcare specialties, which makes her a valuable asset to our practice and our patients.”
Candace has been in pediatrics for over 15 years, both as a registered nurse and as a medical assistant.
“Pediatrics has always been a field I truly enjoy,” says Candace. “Children are fun, resilient, and bring a unique energy to healthcare. What I love most is not only caring for the child but supporting the entire family. I find it very rewarding to help put parents’ minds at ease, guide them through difficult times when their children are sick, and also share in the joyful moments during wellness visits—especially watching children grow and reach their developmental milestones.”
Candace spent much of her time here at Alzein Pediatrics as a pediatric medical assistant and is delighted to return. “Alzein Pediatrics has an excellent reputation with the community, and returning as a registered nurse feels incredibly fulfilling.” Candace feel it’s especially meaningful to contribute more to patient care now as a registered nurse while being part of a practice that she respects and values.
Patient families can see Candace for both wellness and sick visits, performing assessments, administering and supervising medications and injections, and collaborating with Alzein healthcare providers. Candace can also help families with nutrition questions and building healthy lifestyles. “These areas are so important for long-term health and development,” Candace notes. “I enjoy educating families about building healthy habits early on.”
Candace also has a special interest in caring for and supporting children with special needs who may require more individualized care and attention.
Families will see that Candace’s care is centered on kindness and patience. She stresses teamwork, compassion, and excellence, believing the best outcomes happen when healthcare providers work collaboratively and treat every patient and family with empathy, respect, and a dedication to high-quality care.
“You never truly know what a family may be going through, so I always try to meet them with understanding and support. Being both a mother and a nurse strengthens my ability to connect with children and their families. I aim to create a comforting environment where they feel heard, cared for, and confident in the care they’re receiving.”
As a mother of two wonderful children, spending time with family is a big part of Candace’s life. “We also have two cats and a dog who keep things fun and busy at home. Music is a big part of my life—I can listen to it all day – R&B is my favorite.” She also loves to cook, read, fish and kayak whenever she gets the chance, and stay active with her Peloton bike and Pilates classes.
Please join us in welcoming back Candace Duran, RN, to Alzein Pediatrics!
