The FDA has given the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot emergency use authorization for children ages 5 to 11. The booster should be given at least 5 months after your child’s last COVID-19 vaccine.
Data indicates that this third dose raises Omicron-resisting antibodies by 36 times in children in this age group. Omicron and its variants affect children more severely, with many kids needing hospitalization research also shows that children are susceptible to “long COVID” symptoms.
